Scotch

I tried Scotch whiskey once long ago. I don’t remember what brand I tried, but I did not like it. I had sworn off the stuff since then.

Today, I decided to try again. The reason for this change was that I just returned from a mountain vacation in which I won a good amount of money at a Native American casino. It might seem like a very small amount to most people, but to me it was a windfall. You see, I always lose. I accepted that about myself as a gambler long ago. Anytime that I come out ahead, even if it is only a few dollars, I feel like a millionaire.

In this case, I came out $500 ahead of where I started. Again, most people would say so what, but fuck those people. Such a gain is life-changing for me. Perhaps very temporarily, but still, life-changing.

As a celebration, I decided to treat myself to some good whiskey. After consulting an AI, I for one whole-heartedly welcome our new mechanical overlords, I decided on a couple bottles of fine, though not bank-breaking, quality.

For bourbon, I went with Four Roses Small Batch. I”ll try that later and let you know how it is.

I also decided to give Scotch another try. I figure this is the best time there will ever be. I still have several days left in my vacation, and I would be spending what amounts to found money.

Going with the robot’s recommendation, I chose Arbeg Single Malt Ten Year. This is supposed to be a standard in the elevated drinking world. It is supposed to be highly representative of the petey flavor of southern Scotch. I can report wholeheartedly that it is delicious. It has turned me from a non-believer into a fan of Scotch instantly. Such a strange transmutation is only testament to Ardbeg’s strengths.

I am currently writing. I am writing this blog, no shit, but I am also writing a story about vampires. As I assume all authors do, I am attempting to add my own alien touch to this well worn subject. Will I succeed? We shall see.
