Spirituality

I have been struggling recently with a tension between my desire to grow spiritually and to grow intellectually.

I know the two are not exclusive. Many people find a balance, but I have been having trouble. And the tension has been causing me quite a bit of stress lately.

Of course, since what I’m talking about is choosing a path for self actualization, it is very much a problem less essential than many people are dealing with.

But that doesn’t mean it is irrelevant.

An important thing to remember is that things that matter to you are important. The old “other people have it worse” train of reason is really just a way for the powerful to keep others in line.

For me, I choose to develop my mind and my soul. I am privileged that I have time to consider such things. What I think that means is that I should not waste the opportunities afforded to me. Personal growth is a valid avenue for effort.  At least that’s what I think.
